After 3HuiTube, there is a new model 3HuiGate offered by 3 Austria. Although the name seems rather strange, behind the marketing name hides an original model name: the Huawei E5186 LTE router. The device supports LTE Cat6 for speeds of up to 300 MBit/s in the downlink and up to 50 Mbit/s in the uplink, and there are fast Dual Band WLAN, Gigabit LAN and USB port. The 3HuiTube router also provides a phone function along with two ports for connecting analog phones.

3HuiGate = Huawei E5186 Although the Huawei E5186 LTE router is already almost 2 years old (the model was introduced in February 2014), it is still very topical. Most recently, the largest Austrian mobile provider has received A1 rout in its portfolio. The unit is also available at Germany for network Telekom and named as Speedbox LTE III. We had introduced Huawei E5186 as a solid LTE router with many features. But the price is in high range without contract, but 3HuiTube is to have clearly more favorable in conjunction with a data plan.

LTE Category 6: up to 300 MBit/s

The 3HuiGate is one of the few LTE router that supports LTE at a rate of up to 300 MBit/s in the downlink. The technology behind it is called LTE Advanced Cat6. Using Carrier Aggregation are bundled here two frequency ranges and increased the speed. In order for the high data rates, Huawei E5186 have been installed four RJ45 Gigabit LAN sockets. In addition, the data transmission via WLAN 802.11ac with up to 866 MBit/s is possible. The 3HuiGate supports Dual Band WLAN at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

Besides the function as an Internet router, you can use the 3HuiTube with the USB 2.0 interface as network storage, so a corresponding USB memory must be connected. Media such as music, videos and other files are then available in the home network. The Huawei E5186 has two RJ11 phone ports on the back. Two analog telephones can be connected, which is done via VoIP telephone or mobile network. The router can not support VoLTE currently. Also on the back you will find two type SMA connections for an external antenna. You can refer below the external antenna for 3HuiGate:

Comparison: 3HuiTube and 3HuiGate

By 3HuiGate and 3HuiTube, the Austrian provider “3” has brought two new LTE routers to market within a short time. Here, the 3HuiTube is in good design but do not have the latest and fastest technology. The 3HuiTube is considerably cheaper than the 3HuiGate, but still offers speeds of up to 150 MBit/s via LTE. For most customers, the connection speed is certainly more than adequate. The 3HuiGate aimed at high-end users and it’s a future proof router. And it is also useful for more sophisticated home network, such as the 4 Gigabit LAN interfaces or through the 2 connectors for external antennas. From the simple comparison, you may conclude which 4G router is best for you. You can also check more 4G LTE router on www.4gltemall.com .

How to update the firmware of Huawei E5786

Huawei E5786 is world’s first LTE mobile hotspot with LTE Advanced Cat6 and WLAN ac, and it’s one of the fastest mobile LTE router on the market. Thanks to good facilities and powerful battery, Huawei E5786 is popular with many users. However, there is also a small problem with the device, which annoys some users recently. Huawei has announced the E5786 in February 2014 with the so-called WiFi Extender feature, a feature that we already know from many other Huawei MiFi routers. However, Huawei provides the appliance with different firmware versions, in which some of the WiFi Extender is disabled. In this article, I want to show how to flash the firmware of Huawei E5786 to the version which is equipped with the WiFi Extender.

On some forums, we has found a firmware for the Huawei E5786 LTE router, a user who has already integrated the WiFi Extender function. The firmware should be OK with both the original Huawei E5786 and the unit from Germany Telekom (Telekom Speedbox LTE mini II ), at least there are already reports from users who have their device successfully updated to version 21.303.07.00.00. If one has a E5786 with telecom brand, after the flash, you will get a new firmware with no more branding. Below are the procedure how to update the firmware:

  1. download the Huawei E5786 new firmware zip and unzip all programs on PC
  2. Connect Router with USB cable and at least 10% battery(Better more !!)
  3. Starting the firmware .exe file with admin rights and follow the instructions
  4. also flash GUI. exe

After about 5 minutes of process, the flash should be completed. Some devices may require a Pin code to flash, it can be generated using IMEI number on relevant websites - here you should try Google shortly. I personally have no customized E5786 with telecom brand to test, but in the above linked LTE Forum, there are some opinions that are positive, so I decided to publish the guide here. Nevertheless:

Warning: After flashing the firmware, you lose any warranty. we have no liability for damage to the device.

At IFA 2011, the little miracle box from Samsung was appraised on the Vodafone booth for the first time. Until mid-2012, Vodafone still not introduced the unit in its hardware portfolio. We therefore do not believe that the Samsung Mini-Hotspot GT-B3800 will be in the product range of Vodafone from the body logo. Especially in August, the Vodafone R210 is available, which is a far better alternative. Nevertheless, you will find following some basic data for the GT-B3800 Overview.

The dimension of Samsung GT-B3800 is just as large as a "high" credit card. At just 1.17 cm height and 9 cm long, the GT-B3800 fits easily into any pocket. The GT-B3800 supports virtually all relevant standards. The Samsung GT-B3800 support LTE range on frequency bands at 800 MHz, 1.8 GHz and 2.6 GHz, and UMTS & HSPA networks. In addition, the 2G standards is backward compatible for "emergency" if there is no LTE & 3G networks available.

The Mini-Router is a good partner for tourists and business travelers. Because the GT-B3800 is also a true wireless router, which can serve up to 5 users simultaneously. So it’s ideal for a meeting or a presentation in a restaurant on vacation. The WLAN module allows connections to the 802.11 standard in the categories N, G and B. Encrypts is optional with WEP, WPA or WPA2.

Even in September 2012, Vodafone GT-B3800 was only available via Ebay. Since it’s not yet clear whether and when Vodafone receives the Samsung Hotpot router into the program and the price seems a little big high, we recommend the cheaper models such as Vodafone R210 or R215, or technically better model Huawei E5786 4G Pocket router.

Huawei E5573 LTE MiFi Hotspot Review

More and more huawei new 4G models are available now. We get the latest Huawei E5573 4G mobile hotspot for speeds of up to 150 MBit/s in the LTE network. In addition to a fast modem, Huawei E5573 offers useful functions such as dual-band Wi-Fi, wireless extenders and connectors for external antennas. Thanks to compact dimensions and low weight, the hot spot is ideal for use on the go.

Huawei E5573s-320, this is the exact model number of new mobile hotspot. It’s delivered in a small cardboard box without lots of accessories. In addition to the router, you can get only another short micro USB cable for charging or to connect to the computer. In addition, there is a 1,500 mAh strong battery included in the box, which you must insert into the router after the SIM card plugged in.

The first impression is good overall. The device weighs 100g which is significantly less than most smartphones. The Huawei E5573 is available either in black or white, the entire body is made of plastic. Unlike many other Huawei mobile LTE hotspots, on the front of E5573, there are only two LEDs to indicate the operating status.

The Huawei E5573 supports LTE up to 150 MBit/s in the downlink and up to 50 Mbit/s in the uplink, if the network available allows these speeds. If there is no LTE is available, of course, the older 2G and 3G networks for internet access can be used via UMTS with DC-HSPA+ up to 42.2 Mbit/s in the downlink. The Huawei E5573 is well suited for use in many countries in Europe, Australia and Asia. However, the E5573 device is not particularly well suited in North America due to limited support for the frequency ranges used there. In LTE, the Huawei E5573s-320 supports the frequency bands 800, 900, 1800, 2100 and 2600 megahertz while on UMTS, the device works on 850, 900 and 2100 MHz.

In the test I could reach speeds of up to 130 MBit/s in the downlink and 45 Mbit/s in the uplink via LTE, which is almost peak speed for a Cat4 terminal. If with LTE Cat6, device could achieve higher data rates, but this is not supported by Huawei E5573. Even the current IPv6 is not supported. The reception was in the LTE network at 1800 MHz and 800 well. If necessary, you can connect an external antenna to Huawei E5573. There are two stand TS-9 connectors under a cover available. Below is the recommended 4G External antenna for Huawei E5573, you can refer the image and link to buy:

Buy Huawei E5573 antenna from here: http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-antenna-two-ts-9-connector.html

Huawei E5573 has a removable battery of 1500mAh, and the operating time is about 6 hours. Of course you can also charge the hotspot during use and thus extend the working time. You can use the E5573 directly via the USB interface, a software needs to be installed, only one driver. The operation completely without the battery is not possible.

As a mobile hotspot, the Huawei E5573 could provide the wirelesss connection to mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets or laptops. The Huawei E5573 uses either wireless on 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, by default the connection to 2.4 GHz is preconfigured. In particular, at events and fairs, however, we recommend the use of 5 GHz WLAN, because this frequency range is usually utilized significantly less. WiFi 802.11ac is not supported.

Like many other current LTE hotspots from Huawei, such as the Huawei E5770 or the Huawei E5377, there is a WiFi Extender function. This makes it possible to use an existing Wi-Fi network as an Internet access. Wireless Extender also allows the automatic switching of the connection of wireless access to Wi-Fi, so you can the router on the way to work.

The web interface of the Huawei E5573 is already known by many previous devices and differs neither in design nor in functionality from previous releases. On the home page, which can be accessed via the IP address 192.168.8.1, there is a good overview of all the relevant connection parameters. Furthermore, there is the possibility to send and receive text messages as well as to update the firmware from the Web. In the settings you can configure, for example, the wireless connection, the often used guest network by some users. Also in the mobile settings, it’s lacking an important feature: you can not adjust "LTE only" or "3G only" in Huawei E5573, but simply turn on and off the possibility of LTE. This was achieved significantly better than Huawei previous models.

The control and configuration can be done via the web interface in the browser, there is also the Huawei Mobile WiFi HiLink app as an application for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. Only Windows Phone users will unfortunately empty, for this operating system, there is no special app.

The Huawei E5573 is a good small LTE router, which you can buy without hesitation. Although the device has no LTE Advanced Cat6, but is still fast enough for most users and is suitable also excellent, with dual-band Wi-Fi for fairs and events. The replaceable battery and the terminals for an external antenna also among the plus points. As an alternative, for example, the Huawei E5377 and Netgear Aircard 782s(with Display), both devices are roughly the same price. Those who prefer to have a slightly stronger battery, should refer to Huawei E5770 or Huawei E5377T. And if you prefer LTE cat6, Huawei E5786 would be a good alternative.

Alcatel Y900 One Touch 4G+ LTE Cat6 Hotspot

Alcatel has unveiled a compact LTE Cat6 hotspot-- the Alcatel One Touch Link 4G+ Y900 at MWC in February 2015. Now, the machine is finally available in stores after 9 months. As we had introduced before, the similar model Huawei E5786 has similar feature as Alcatel Y900. However, there is no display and connections for an external antenna in the Y900. In this article, you could see the full review about our test for Alcatel One Touch Link 4G+.

The Alcatel Link Y900 comes in a small cardboard box. In the box, there is a power supply for charging Alcatel Y900. The unit is supplied only with a USB cable, which can then be converted in conjunction with a standard USB power adapter for full charger. Alternatively, the router could also charge through the USB port from a computer or notebook.

The first impression of the Alcatel Y900: the router is equipped with 89 x 62 x 11.5 millimeters and a weight of only 88 grams including the battery. The build quality is good, the back cover on the battery is secure and can be removed quickly in order to insert the SIM card and optional memory card. Alcatel One Touch Link 4G+ Y900 has two colors: dark gray or white.

The operation is carried out via a web interface in the browser, as it is known by virtually every other router models. Alternatively, there is also an application for iOS and Android, so you can control the Y900 hotspot over an app. This works reliably, because the software is easy to understand and react quickly. A special praise has earned by Alcatel for the design, app and web interface look fresh and the functions can be easily distinguished from each other by different colors. This new software is already available from Alcatel Y858 for several months.

In the Web interface, you can see statistics such as online time and data volume consumed for use. In the settings, the wireless connection can be configured to change the password or modify the wireless network name. Also the settings for cellular connection can be done; usually, this is not necessary since the Alcatel Y900 automatically recognizes the network provider based on the inserted SIM card and the configuration performs automatically.

The Alcatel Y900 4G+ is based on a modern chipset with support for LTE category 6, so that up to 300 MBit/s in the downlink and up to 50 Mbit/s can be achieved in the uplink. Of course, the Alcatel Y900 is also backwards compatible with UMTS (up to 42.2 Mbit/s) and GSM including EDGE. In the test at 1800 and 2600 MHz (Carrier Aggregation was active), I reached up to 180 MBit/s in the downlink, which is at least already times faster than LTE Cat4 (up to 150 Mbit/s).   The reception and transmission performance of the Alcatel Y900 is good. But if you are at location of low signal strength, you'd probably want an external antenna. Unfortunately, there are no connections for such an external antenna, probably due to cost.

The Alcatel Y900 runs WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Up to 32 users can be connected to the router simultaneously, which already has a huge advantage in comparison with other mobile hotspots, because in other devices, a maximum of 8 to 15 users can be provided an Internet connection at the same time. The competitor Huawei E5786 has the function to work as a wireless extender but the Alcatel Y900 can not offer this. Even with the safety, the manufacturer Alcatel provides the Y900 hotspot from the factory without wireless encryption, so you should establish immediately a password so that no strangers can go online via the router.

The battery has a capacity of about 1,800 mAh and thus provides a runtime of about 5 hours. This is not particularly good, but the battery is removable, you can easily add a second or third battery and thus extend the duration accordingly. According to Alcatel, there is a version available with even a 3,600 mAh capacity. However, it seems not yet been available and of course you need a new cover for the back because the battery with 3600 mAh is likely to be considerably thicker than the original.

The Alcatel One Touch Link 4G+ Y900 is one of the fastest mobile LTE hotspots that are available at present. It provides a fast modem, fast WLAN and fast USB 3.0.The design with the large-area LED displays is simple and yet succeeded. Connectors for an external antenna is missing unfortunately. But if you simply looking for a fast and future-proof mobile LTE hotspot, Alcatel Y900 would never make you disappointed. As an alternative, we would also recommend Netgear AC790S and the Huawei E5786. Both units feature an LTE Advanced Cat6 modem, a strong battery, terminals for an external antenna and a display, but a little bit more expensive than the tested here Alcatel Y900.

A1 Net Cube Huawei E5180 Cube Test

Huawei E5180 Router, also better known as A1 Net Cube, has a completely new design like a cube. Today, let us have a look at the most beautiful LTE router on the market. First of all, this is from the Chinese Manufacturer Huawei. Whether the LTE cube E5180 with the beautiful appearance also has other advantages, we will have a review in this test.

I have rarely seen such a router: Most such devices would not necessarily have such a beauty shape. The box is kept in a very simple and pleasant design. The decorative LED is at the top. The LED top could aslo turn on and off the E5180 cube by pressing the Huawei logo. This simple design element makes this router very user-friendly. By a long press on the Huawei logo, user can turn off the cube.   In the package, we will find a LAN cable, power supply and a Quick Start Guide. The Huawei E5180 Wi-Fi router itself still has the following features: Two LED indicators on the front - they inform us of the WLAN and the network status.

On the back we find a network WAN port, the power connection and a telephone connection port. No more LAN or USB ports can be found. And there is no external antenna connector. The micro-SIM card is inserted into a slot at the bottom of the E5180 cube. There we also find the reset button.   The operation of Huawei Cube E5180 is very simple: Simply insert the SIM card and get started. The settings for the network will automatically configure normally. We find the SSID and wireless password on the bottom of the router. Connect your device to the SSID and then you can surf freely.

The A1 Net Cube Huawei E5180 Router uses all major network standards: GSM, UMTS (HSDPA Dual Cell) and LTE. However, LTE Carrier Aggregation, also called LTE Cat6, is not supported. But this should not be a problem because LTE Cat4 bandwidths of up to 150 Mbit/s support; for most users that is fast enough. In practice, I have achieved the download speed up to 85Mbit/s and upload speed to about 43 Mbit/s.

One of the most important purchasing criteria for a router is the network capability. The Huawei E5180 offers the current standards with the 802.11b/g/n, but only in the 2.4 GHz range, the area around 5 GHz is not supported. The wireless coverage range is 250 meters according to Huawei, in practice I had good reception in my whole house (old building). Up to 32 clients could access the WiFi network for surfing. A small disadvantage is the speed: The Ethernet LAN connection only allows a maximum of 100 Mbit/s.

A1 Net Cube Huawei E5180 Technical data at a glance

LTE: Cat 4 until max. download up to 150 Mbit/s, up to max. 50 Mbit/s upload

UMTS: DC-HSPA+, up to max. 42.2 Mbit/s for down, up to max. 5.76 Mbit/s upload

GSM: EDGE, GPRS

connections: 1x Ethernet LAN connection 100 MBit/s, 1x RJ-11 for telephone

WLAN: Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, 2.4 GHz for up to 32 Equipment and 4 SSIDs;

250 meter range

The web interface looks very tidy and clear. On the home page, the most important information such as the link status and network strength are displayed. In addition, SMS can be sent and interface settings are made around the network. The connection type can be changed by a few clicks, you can switch the network in 2G, 3G or 4G. Basically, the built-in router antenna seems to do a good job, with the A1 Net Cube I had better reception than at the same location with the phone.

The Huawei E5180 Cube router can also configure via App. Through the  Huawei Mobile WiFi app,  SMS can be sent, to make network settings and statistics can be accessed. The Chinese manufacturer Huawei saves us much time for unnecessary and complicated barriers to entry. Thus the Huawei E5180 router is recommended quite clear for those of us who do not want to stay long with the service or the study of manuals themselves.

Those who want more LAN ports, a USB port, gigabit LAN or advanced networking configuration options, the A1 Net Cube may not meet your requirements. Another Huawei E5186 4G LTE router is recommended.

The first LTE Cat6 router Huawei E5186 arrived available for A1. Thanks to the introduction of LTE Carrier Aggregation  at the end of June 2015, so that bandwidth of up to 300 Mbit/s can be achieved. Thus, the Huawei E5186 router with appropriate tariff is ideal for work/surfing/games at home. The model number is huawei E5186s-22a, as we know, there is brother model Huawei E5186s-61a, which is for Australian market. If you are interested in the performance of this router, it’s necessary to see this test below.

In an unspectacular packaging, we find the E5186 router, a power cable, a LAN cable and a Quick Start Guide. In the brief instructions, we will discuss on the importance of the lamp, the connections and the installation of the SIM card. The Huawei E5186 router size is not smalle, dimensions are 194 x 177 x 64mm and lack of battery for stationary use. On the front, we find LEDs that indicate the current operating status. The air vents are designed on the top and bottom. When working, the router is not hot, thanks to passive cooling, there is also no noise.

huawei E5186 LEDs

On the back we find a whole range of connections. In addition to the power connector, there is a USB port (for a network printer and USB Storage), 2 telephone lines and 4x Gigabit LAN ports. Behind the white panel, there is also the possibility to connect an antenna for better reception. If you want external antenna for Huawei E5186, we will recommend two antennas for your consideration. The micro-SIM card is inserted on the right side of body.    It’s simple to operate the E5186 LTE CPE: After insertion of SIM card and activation of the Power switch in the router, it would be connected with the mobile network after about 30 seconds. The Huawei E5186 router itself, brings the configuration of the connection automatically, manual input is unnecessary. And then other terminals can connect the WiFi and surf after the router connected with network. Those who then want to change the wireless network password or other settings, can do that on the router interface. The makes a very neat impression and you find yourself good at it rightly.

Huawei E5186 router offers the classic configuration via browser while there is another way to do the settings: The Huawei Mobile WiFi app. The app can be installed to the mobile phones or tablets by means of a clear user interface and wireless network settings.

Here, you can see the Huawei E5186 router technical features: It offers all common standards with WiFi 802.11b/g/n/ac at 2.4GHz / 5GHz Dual Band and supports up to 64 devices. The range of the wireless network is about 250 meters (without obstacles), the possible bandwidth is up to 1.1 Gbit/s. This is the WiFi standard 802.11ac including simultaneous use of 5 and 2.4 GHz bands. In order to exploit the full speed, you need a corresponding network environment.

The Huawei E5186 4G/LTE router supports mentioned LTE Cat6, and thus enabling download speed of up to 300Mbit/s. Of course, it also supports all other standards, so LTE Cat4, HSDPA (Dual Cell) and EDGE or GRPS. The range was great in the practical test: I have measured 80 Mbit/s with LTE Carrier Aggregation without that latency. Surfing speed was particularly impressive. Since LTE provides really good value!

The reception of Huawei E5186 can also be improved with an external antenna if necessary. The antenna connector is SMA socket, here we have two external antenna for Huawei E5816. They both work well in real test:

Antenna one for Huawei E5186:

You can buy the antenna from here: http://www.4gltemall.com/huawei-b593-4g-antenna.html

Antenna two for Huawei E5186:

You can buy this antenna from here: http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-antenna-two-sma-connector.html

Conclusion

For those who need fast Internet at home or a more remote region, we can recommend the Huawei E5186 router: it is ready to go, offers a number of setting options and a very stable and fast wireless internet. As a result, the E5186 LTE router is not only suitable for working or surfing, but also to play. But this also depends on the network coverage. The LTE Cat6 are already covered in more and more cities over the world and LTE latencies are generally low. We suppose the Huawei E5186 is a future proof LTE Wireless router, it’s worthy to buy!

If you ask whether there is similar LTE Cat6 router, there is still Huawei router to recommend. The model number is Huawei E5175. It's a brother model like E5786, but not well-known.

The Netgear AirCard AC790 Hotspot with LTE Advanced Cat6 was presented last year to the MWC, now the LTE mobile Hotspot is available in many countries. The Aircard 790S has a large touch screen on the front and the operating time is up to 11 hours, which means a very good quality for competition.

Netgear AirCard AC790 LTE Cat6 Hotspot

What’s more, up to 15 devices can be supported simultaneously by Dual Band WLAN 802.11ac with an Internet connection. Unfortunately, the large range of functions is also reflected in the price. Here now you can get the unlocked Netgear AC790 LTE Advanced Cat6 mobile hotspot from www.4gltemall.com .

Netgear AirCard 790s LTE Hotspot has equipped with a cellular modem from Qualcomm, which can operate equivalent LTE category 6 ("LTE Advanced ") at speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 50 Mbit/s in the uplink. So far, only a few other mobile routers offer this speed, such as Huawei E5786 and Alcatel Y900.

The AC790s supports the following LTE frequency bands: B1, B3, B7, B8, B20, B38, B40 (2100, 1800, 2600, 900, 800, 2600 and 2300 megahertz). Carrier aggregation, which is necessary for LTE Advanced bundling of frequency ranges, is supported for a total of seven combinations, both intra-band and inter-band, for example, 1800+ 2600 or 2600 + 2600 megahertz.

In addition, the Netgear AirCard 790s LTE router supports UMTS including data accelerator DC-HSPA+ for speeds of up to 42.2 Mbit/s in the downlink in 3G network. Also GSM with EDGE is supported. To connect to the computer, WLAN is available on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and up to 15 devices can be simultaneously connected to the Aircard AC790s.

The biggest feature of the Netgear AC790 is undoubtedly the 2.4-inch touchscreen with color display on the front. Thus, the router is the first LTE Cat6 mobile hotspot, which can be configured and operated completely without web interface. Although there were already many mobile router with the display feature, but the display acted far more likely to display important information such as battery status and network availability.

With dimensions of 110 x 68 x 15.44 mm and weighing around 136 grams with battery, Netgear AC790 is not particularly compact and light, yet the device should fit easily into your pocket or in a small backpack pocket. The Huawei Honor 7 has an update available for a short time, which fixes several minor problems. According to the feedback from users about Honor 7, one of the biggest problems of the device is the audio quality, which need to be improved with telephone calls. There has been often misfires with telephone calls in GSM and UMTS network, and the communication quality is  bad despite good reception that you barely understood and had to cancel the call. Personally, I have these problems especially in the dual SIM operation in 2G network while other devices did not have the audio problems at the same location. With the new update with version number PLK L01C432B170, the problem was fortunately resolved.

OTA update The update for the Honor 7 can be easily accessed on the smartphone via the Settings menu. The upgrade program allows downloading the firmware via both Wi-Fi as well as via the cellular connection, the actual installation takes about 10 minutes.

The small firmware update for the Honor 7 brings only security patches and enhancements of existing functionalities. Next to the audio problem, some translations of minority languages was rectified. Even the mistakes that often two notification symbols are displayed at only one new message in Messenger applications like WhatsApp and Telegram, has been finally resolved with the update. The Android version number remains in the 111 megabyte update at 5.0.2 (Lollipop ), you have to wait at the big update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. there is already a beta version for this update, interested users can sign up for the beta test and install Android 6.0.

Netgear has announced the first mobile hotspot AirCard AC810S with LTE Advanced category 11 at CES in Las Vegas. With LTE Cat11, the router reaches speeds of up to 600 megabits per second in the downlink, so that the device is twice as fast as the fastest development stage (category 6). Operation is carried out in a large color touch screen on the front, like the predecessor model Netgear AC790s.

In Europe, LTE Advanced Cat11 is currently not offered by any network operator, but Vodafone is planning the launch of LTE Advanced with more than 500 Mbit/s around mid-2016 and other network operators are sure to upgrade their networks accordingly. After the MWC in Barcelona , we suppose more terminals with LTE Cat11 or LTE cat12 will be coming onto the market.

Like older mobile LTE hotspots, Netgear sets the AC810S a comparatively very good quality. So the WLAN module supports dual-band operation on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and it also supports the fast WLAN 802.11ac. Up to 15 devices can be connected with Netgear AC810S simultaneously via WLAN for Internet connection. On request, you can set up multiple SSIDs (network names) for guests and visitors as well as for private use. If you are at location with weak signal, you can connect an external antenna to the Aircard 810s to improve. The antenna connectors in the Netgear AC810S are two TS-9 ports. If you want to buy an external antenna for Netgear Aircard 810s, you can check below the antenna: http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-antenna-two-ts-9-connector.html

According to Netgear official site, the Netgear AC810S has a replaceable battery with capacity of 2930 mAh and the operating times of about 11 hours are possible for continued use. It comes with a so-called Jump Boost cable, which allows you to use the Netgear AirCard 810 hotspot to charge other devices such as smartphones and tablets.

LTE Cat11 with up to 600 MBit/s

The Netgear AC810S may take up to three 20 MHz wide frequency ranges bundle (Triple Carrier Aggregation). Depending on the configuration and frequency from the network operator, the Aircard 810s therefore could possibly reach up to 600 MBit/s in the downlink. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the network providers would take the carrier aggregation at the frequency ranges of 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz and both the German Telekom and the provider Swisscom have already announced wanting to put Carrier Aggregation the future.

Netgear has not yet announced whether the AirCard AC810S router will come onto the market. Even for the price, there are so far no details. Probably the AC810S LTE router will be more expensive than its predecessor, the Netgear AC790S with LTE Advanced Cat6 (300 MBit/s) without a contract. For more details and a detailed data sheet can be found on the website www.4gltemall.com .

Huawei has launched Mate 8 smartphone at CES 2016 in Las Vegas to the international market. The Huawei Mate 8 is a phablet(Phone and Tablet) with 6 inch display and dual SIM function. Like its predecessor model Huawei Mate 7, Huawei has built a particularly strong battery, the capacity is 4,000 mAh, which should allow an operating time of two days under normal use. In late November 2015, Huawei Mate 8 has already been presented to the Chinese market, the device was available in Europe from the end of January 2016.

Huawei built Mate 8 a display with a diagonal of 6 inches and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD). As with the sister model huawei Mate S, the display is protected by a slightly rounded glass ("2.5D glass"). This causes the device itself should feel particularly well and in particular the gesture control is improved. Of course, the curved glass is also visually quite a looker. The internal memory is 32 gigabytes in size, and can be extended up to 128GB, the memory is 3 gigabytes via MicroSD memory card.

The processor comes with the Huawei Mate 8 is a HiSilicon Kirin 950. It is an octa-core processor with 2x 4 cores, which is manufactured in 16nm FinFET technology. Also the modem comes from the subsidiary HiSilicon, which works strangely only with up to 150 MBit/s in LTE network. The predecessor was still LTE Advanced Cat6 with up to 300 MBit/s. Wi-Fi is also supported, in addition to the 2.4 GHz band, whether Huawei also integrates the 5 GHz band is still unclear.

The Huawei Mate 8 will be available in Europe in late January 2016. The price is good without a contract, but the price will probably be a little cheaper at some online retail store such as www.4gltemall.com. The phablet will be in "Space Gray" color as well as in "Moonlight Silver". People also know the Huawei Mate 8 since last year and it’s said that the Mate 8 is as good as iPhone 6, even better. We had tested the Huawei Mate 8, you can check the test report for Huawei mate 8. But whether it’s better or not, user would have their own opinion. It’s no doubt that the Huawei Mate 8 becomes a shinning star in the 4G LTE Smartphones.

Huawei E5186s is the name of the Chinese producer's latest mobile broadband router on the Danish market, and the telecommunications company “3” has introduced the E5186 router into their range as the router perfectly fits 3s network. The router can support Carrier Aggregation, which the phone company uses to achieve speeds of about 140 to 150 Mbit/s.

Huawei E5186 E5186S E5186S-22 Router

The features on Huawei E5186 router:

  • 3G/4G LTE router with carrier aggregation
  • 4G LTE Category 6 router option to download up to 300 Mbit/s
  • Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac both on the 2.4GHz and 5 GHz
  • 4 Ethernet ports
  • USB port for sharing files
  • Antenna connector for external antenna.

Mobile broadband routers usually include not only the most basic set, and is by no means at the forefront compared to normal home routers, so this must be kept in mind to have a little quick look at the router's functions. The start-up of the Huawei E5186 router is very easy. You put the Sim card in, turn on the router and the name of the wireless network and the password are behind the router. So you can access the internet in two minutes. The router is kept in white color, fit perfectly into most homes. Somebody may not exactly love the router's blue twinkling lights. It should be mentioned that the included black power adapter is just as ugly as all other black power supplies that are currently provided in electronic products.

Huawei E5186 E5186S E5186S-22 Router

How Huawei E5186 router works   The first thing you notice is that the E5186 router's configuration to be accessed via the address 192.168.8.1, which is slightly different than most other routers in the consumer market. Next, you will be presented with a login window where you see the router's current status without having to login to. On the statistics, you can see the statistics of one's consumption of data. The statistics are not just useful for much, but it gives an opportunity to follow one's consumption, although it is somewhat unclear how the statistics are generated. It is possible to update the router software on page “update”. The software update can be performed locally via USB or downloaded online.

Huawei E5186 E5186S E5186S-22 Router

Many advanced options

The real fun options are listed in the settings where all the huawei E5186 router important settings hiding. Here you can change the name of the Wi-Fi network individually on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz. Unfortunately no possibility to make a guest network.

On the other hand, there are plenty of other very advanced features such as to setup a SIP server, which you use to certain types of IP telephone. The router is equipped with two phone ports, so it is possible to use the Huawei E5186 router to the IP phone. But this part, we have not tested.

It is also possible to block access to certain websites directly in the router - eg. block access to Facebook or YouTube. You simply enter the address of the web sites you do not want users to be able to access via the browser, and so prevents the router access to the site, which is quite useful if teenage daughter spend too much time on Facebook.

Finally, it is also possible to share the contents of a hard drive or a printer respectively via DLNA and Samba over the LAN. DLNA function serving as expected, and it is possible to stream video, view photos or play music. The setup of samba function caused not so many problems.

LED light shines like a beacon

The most important thing about the Huawei E5186 router is enough for daily use where you do not have to play with the functions in the menu, the router would be running rock-stable. Even with sometimes up to 14 Wi-Fi devices connected, Huawei E5186 LTE router drove stable, and there was absolutely no trouble keeping Wi-Fi connection itself far from the router. It is really convenient to be able to choose Wi-Fi at 5 GHz, when many residential areas have too many Wi-Fi network at 2.4 GHz, which creates noise and resulting low throughput of Wi-Fi.

Huawei E5186 4G router is also equipped with two connectors for external antennas. The router's antennas are quite sensitive, and during the test, no trouble keeping the connection to the 3's 4G LTE network. If you live far from the nearest cell tower or in an unfortunate area, so it is possible to connect an external antenna. You can use below the external antenna with two connectors to improve the signal strength. You may refer to below the link to buy the external antenna for Huawei E5186 Router: http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-antenna-two-ts-9-connector.html

Huawei E5186 antenna

The only really big complaint about Huawei E5186 router is the exceptionally bright LED lights on the router's front - LED light shines just like a lighthouse. User should not put the router in the bedroom if you are planning to get some sleep during the night, and there should be a configuration option to turn down the strong light.

Huawei E5186 E5186S E5186S-22 Router

Overall, Huawei E5186s router is a quite fine and sensible 4G router. It was no connection problems under the little mini-test, and the router did its good job for 12 terminals. If you are planning to buy a future proof router with good stable performance, Huawei E5186 4G LTE wireless router is recommended.

The telecom company “3” has introduced the Huawei E5180 4G mobile broadband router into the company's product line, and now we have the new smart 4G router available.

The first thing you notice is the size. The entire dimensions of Huawei E5180 are 110 x 70 x 70 mm, not much bigger than a coffee mug, and on top, the router has a beautiful soft blue LED light that indicates that the router is turned on. If the blue light is annoying, the E5180 4G WiFi Cube can be disconnected from the options menu, or simply by pressing down on the top of the router. Possibility to switch off the light is a welcome feature, since the blue light can be irritating.

huawei WiFi Cube E5180

Compared to some larger mobile broadband routers, it seems Huawei E5180 is elegant. On the front, there are two small blue LED light that indicates when the router has the connection to the mobile network and when there is Wi-Fi connection. On the back of the Huawei E5180 Cube, there is an Ethernet port, a PSTN (phone) port and a plug for the power supply. The external power supply is white with white cord, and fits well with the small little beautiful router. You can install the SIM card at the bottom of the router. Also a flat Ethernet cable is included in the sales package, and this is also white.

Huawei 4G WiFi Cube E5180 logo

Technically, there is a Category 4 LTE modem supporting speeds up to 150 Mbit/s in 4G LTE and DC-HSPA+ up to 42 Mbit/s over 3G. The Huawei WiFi 4G Cube router supports the 4G FD-LTE on 800, 1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz. During our test, the Cube E5180 router showed the fine reception on 3’s 4G network.   Wi-Fi connection is at 2.4 GHz, and the router supports 802.11 b/g/n standards. N standard runs with MIMO 2 × 2, and according to the sales package, the Huawei Cube E5180 could cover up to 250 meters - this part could not quite be confirmed, but the range of Wi-Fi signal was quite acceptable. The Huawei WiFi Cube E5180 supports up to 32 connected Wi-Fi devices simultaneously.

Huawei 4G WiFi Cube E5180 SIM Card slot

The router has only Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz, and it is not possible to choose whether the router must use Wi-Fi B, G or N standard. The router uses all three standards, and it can not change. However, it is possible that user can make four separate SSIDs (separate Wi-Fi network), but you can’t setup more advanced things such as bandwidth-limitation of the additional SSIDs. You can set up a SIP account if you wish to use the router PSTN jack to connect a landline phone on the router, and use it for Voice over IP telephone.

Huawei 4G WiFi Cube E5180 BOX

There is no possibility of connecting external antenna to this 4G WiFi Cube, so you must use the Huawei E5180 far from the nearest cell tower. The rate has been acceptable throughout the test.

Huawei 4G WiFi Cube E5180 Package details

Small, light and elegant

Two words can summarize Huawei E5180 could be "very good". The Huawei 4G WiFi Cube is not designed to be an all-round solution like many of the other mobile broadband routers on the market. The E5180 router is designed to be small and elegant, and so easy to install that you basically only need to insert a SIM card. The router is nice and easy to use in everyday life. Huawei E5180 is an exciting 4G LTE router that fits perfectly in the frame. Good performance, easy to get started and fine speed. Huawei E5180 does really well.

Huawei Mate 8 VS Huawei Mate S 4G Smartphones

Huawei has introduced very interesting smartphone: the Mate S and Mate 8 in recent months. The Chinese producer Huawei went up to the third-largest smartphone seller in the German market in 2015 and the Mate 8 and Mate S would like to improve on this position. While the Mate S was presented at IFA in Berlin and a short time later went on sale; the Mate 8 has been presented only to CES in early 2016. The two mobile phones are technically and optically very similar at first glance, but take a closer look at the technical and visual details, there are much difference.

The Huawei Mate S distinguishes very little visually from Huawei Mate 8: The front is dominated by a huge screen and each very narrow margins, hardware keys do not exist. The display of Mate S measures 5.5 inches, which is slightly smaller than that of Mate 8, which measures 6 inches. Even if the difference in the data sheet appears small: at the latest when you have the mate S and 8 in the hand and compares, you will notice the difference in size significantly. The Mate 8 is bulky, but one hand can hand it, so you should not be regarded it as negative point.

The processing of both the Mate 8 as well as the Mate S is almost perfectly. The Mate S here nonetheless wins the comparison, because the back has two thin antenna strip of metal, while in Mate 8 has only a piece of plastic cover for the antennas used. The Mate 8 falls on the circular fingerprint scanner and the circular camera mount, while the Mate S has both built in classic rectangular design. Both Huawei Mate S and the Huawei Mate 8 have two colors: gray and white.

Basically, both the Huawei Mate S and the Huawei Mate 8 are a very good technical equipment, which is classified in the upper class. Let's start with the display: the resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels in common, but the display technology is different: the Mate S uses an AMOLED panel while the Mate 8 uses an IPS panel. Colors, brightness and sharpness are excellent for both devices. The internal memory is 32 gigabytes in size in each case and can be expanded via MicroSD memory card up to 128 GB. In addition, for Huawei Mate 8, there is still the possibility to take a second nano-SIM card instead of a mocro-SD card, so is it the ideal dual SIM smartphone. The simultaneous use of MicroSD card and dual SIM is not possible. Regarding the processor, the two devices differ only slightly, at least no difference in the speed. Nevertheless, the Huawei Mate 8 with the HiSilicon Kirin 950 is the significantly latest octa-core processor (Mate S: Kirin 935). Both devices come with 3 gigabytes of RAM and a very good fingerprint sensor.

Other differences are there between the radio links, here the Huawei Mate is 8 is clearly more superior than the Huawei Mate S: the Mate 8 has not only the aforementioned dual-SIM function, but also the LTE modem is significantly faster (LTE Cat6 instead LTE Cat4, ie up to 300 MBit/s instead of just up to 150 Mbit/s downstream). In addition, the Mate 8 the near-field wireless NFC, the Mate S has not. Even when the wireless topic Mate 8 has one step ahead: it supports Dual Band WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, while the Mate S only WLAN 802.11b/g/n supports 2.4 GHz. The back camera of Mate S and Mate 8 has an optical image stabilizer (OIS) and a dual-LED flash. The Mate 8 can create photos with up to 16 megapixel resolution (4: 3 format) that Mate S can accommodate up to 13 megapixels. For videos, both devices are limited to Full HD.

The Huawei Mate 8 is already with the latest Android 6.0 operating system and making it more up to date than the Mate S, which currently runs on Android 5.1.1. Serious differences do not exist, both units are very fast and the functions differ only in details. Both devices have pre-installed the user interface EMUI that Mate 8 a slightly newer version. EMUI reminiscent of the appearance and operation of the forth something to Apple iOS and is very easy to use.

An important point must not be missed when comparing two smartphones: the battery. While the Huawei Mate S comes with a 2,700 mAh strong battery, only slightly thicker and heavier, Huawei Mate 8 has a 4,000 mAh strong battery on board. not be missed: The batteries are not changeable for the two devices, when Mate 8 has a fast-charging adapter included, which fully charges the device within approximately 2.5 hours. During daily use, the higher capacity of the battery makes the Huawei Mate 8 clearly noticeable: while the Mate S just allow one day at normal use, two days at normal use are possible on Mate 8 easily. The Huawei Mate 8 is, like its predecessor Huawei Mate 7, a real endurance runner and currently certainly one of the smartphone with the best battery performance.

We can see Huawei Mate 8 dominates in many aspects, however, it must be noted that the Mate 8 is just appeared, while the S Mate is on the market for several months. After all Huawei Mate 8 is the latest new flagship for Huawei. The Huawei Mate S is currently cheaper than Mate 8 without a contract.  If you need a budget good smartphone, Huawie Mate S may be a good option.

TP-Link TL-MR6400 4G LTE Router

Following the top vendors, TP-Link presented new 4G LTE Router. The TP-link TL-MR6400 LTE router is now available in many European countries, such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With a budget price, the TP-MR6400 is rather low in comparison, but the router offers a decent equipment such as a 150 MBit/s LTE modem and wireless with up to 300 MBit/s. In addition to three RJ45 LAN ports, there is a fourth combined WAN/LAN port, so you can operate the TL-MR6400 also using an external cable, DSL or fiber optic modem.

External antennas and SIM Adapter

The TP-Link TL-MR6400 looks unspectacular; there are two external antenna on the body connecting to the router with a cellular modem. According to TP-Link, the antennas can be easily unscrewed by the user, if you prefer to use an LTE external directional antenna. For the operation of the modem, the router requires a SIM card in the standard mini SIM form factor, the adapters for Micro-SIM and nano-SIM are included, so any existing SIM card is ready for use immediately in the TL-MR6400.

LTE Cat4 Modem

The modem can be used at speeds up to 150 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 50 Mbit/s in the uplink, this corresponds to LTE category 4 (Cat4). It supports the FDD-LTE frequency ranges 800, 900, 1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz in the TDD-LTE. Furthermore,  the TL-MR6400 supports dual band UMTS with up to 42.2 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 5.76 Mbit/s in the uplink and quad-band GSM/EDGE.

Ethernet LAN and Wireless

Internet connection is passed either wirelessly via WLAN or via one of the four RJ45 network connections on terminals. The TL-MR6400 also supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n on 2.4 GHz with up to 300 MBit/s and has four 100 Mbit/s LAN ports. Here you can tell the competitive price, because Gigabit LAN would have been given the up to 150 MBit/s fast LTE modems, which is definitely required. With the 100 Mbit/s LAN ports, it is impossible to exploit the full LTE speed. The TP-Link TL-MR6400 is  one of the best LTE router on the market. A constantly updated overview of all LTE router can be found at this link. If you prefer other brands, such as Huawei, ZTE, we would like to recommend Huawei B890 4G LTE Gateway. Actually, here now, the LTE category 6 wireless router Huawei E5186 is already available for long time, if you prefer latest possible download speed, Huawei E5186 would be the best option, but you may have to bear higher price.

Asus 4G-AC55U LTE Router Review

$

0

Asus offers the 4G-AC55U in December 2015,  which is a new LTE router for stationary use. The new 4G Router offers many connections and is supplied with a current WLAN 802.11ac radio module, allowing speeds of up to 867 Mbit/s via WLAN in the 5 GHz range. The integrated cellular modem could support peak up to 150 MBit/s in the downlink and up to 50 Mbit/s in the uplink with LTE networks, and UMTS and GSM are supported. The design is quite exceptional for a LTE router; there is a diamond pattern on the front and the radio antennas are designed visible clearly outside the housing.

With the Asus 4G-AC55U router, you can choose the Internet access via the mobile network (LTE, UMTS, GSM) or via an existing modem. For the mobile use, of course you need a SIM card (mini-SIM form factor) with a data plan, it does not matter whether it is a prepaid card or a contract card, the Asus 4G AC55U has no SIM lock and can be used with any tariff. If you want to use the router via an existing Internet connection, you need a modem (for example, a DSL or cable modem, depending on the connection).

The Asus AC55U connects simply via the Gigabit WAN port to the modem, then the router acts as a pure Access Point.   According to the Asus official site, the 4G-AC55U could support LTE frequency bands at FDD Band 800 /1800 /2600Mhz and 4G TDD-LTE at 2500/2600MHz. Like other 4G LTE Router such as Huawei B890, 4G-AC55U is also backward with UMTS and GSM/GPRS networks.

The Asus AC55U 4G Router provides a very fast Wi-Fi connection compared with other models. The device transmits simultaneously to 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz on demand, thus reaching speeds of 300 + 786 MBit/s. Thus data-intensive applications such as UHD streams, online gaming and a NAS usage should be no problem. Alternatively, you can also use a four RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports on the back of the router for connecting devices with the Asus 4G AC55U. The wireless connection can be switched on and off on request with a switch on the back.

For the connection of a USB storage media, an USB 2.0 slot is available. So you can for example integrate an external hard drive in the network and retrieve content such as movies and photos directly on the smartphone or tablet. A printer can be integrated via USB to the network.

The Huawei B315 is a new LTE router available in Germany since summer 2015. The device has a wide range of functions and has a modern equipment with Gigabit LAN, fast wireless, telephone and of course a good cellular modem. With a comparative price without contract, the Huawei B315 is also relatively cheap to have.

Compact body with many connections

The Huawei B315 is packed in a simple cardboard box and is available in either black or white color. In addition to the router, a power supply with a 1.5 m long connecting cable and a short Ethernet cable (about 0.5 m) is included, and there is of course a printed quick-start guide. If you look at the router in more detail on, it is noticeable that it is trapezoidal in shape: Below the router is a bit thicker and thus has a secure stand on level ground, on the above the width narrows rapidly. All antennas were installed inside, thus there are no ugly antenna stub. On the front, Huawei has installed five LED indicators for the operational status. In addition, a small and discreet manufacturer logo adorns the front. All major ports are placed on the back. There are four RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports, one RJ11 phone connector, a USB 2.0 port and a reset button.  Besides the reset button is the connector for the power supply and two SMA connectors for an external antenna can be found under a cover. The SIM card is set on the side of B315 router, the shaft itself is protected by a cover and is very easily accessible.

The establishment and operation of the Huawei B315 proved very easy. The router works with any SIM card and recognizes the provider automatically. Of course, you can access data later but also adjust manually. After inserting the SIM card, user must connect to the Huawei B315 either via a LAN cable or wirelessly via WLAN. The wireless network is encrypted, and the corresponding password and wireless network name can be found at the bottom of the router.  Both the password and the wireless network name should be changed later to further increase security. If the SIM card has no PIN code, the router will be connected just in a few seconds after plugging the power adapter to the Internet. Otherwise, you must first through the web interface, which is called with the IP address 192.168.1.254, enter the PIN code. All in all, the start made extremely simple and requires no extensive computer knowledge, so the Huawei B315 is recommended for beginners.

Huawei B315 LTE CPE

LTE with up to 150 Mbit/s

The Huawei B315 has an integrated cellular modem for 4G/LTE, 3G/UMTS and 2G/GSM, so for all major technologies in Europe. The supported frequency bands allow use with any providers in many other countries in Asia and Middle East. The Huawei B315 router not only supports the important frequency ranges around 800, 1800, and 2600 MHz, but also the 900 and 2100 MHz. The maximum speed could reach up to 150 Mbit/s downstream and 50 Mbit/s upstream ( LTE category 4 ) on LTE network. If only the UMTS network is available or no LTE network available, up to 42.2 Mbit/s downstream and 5.76 Mbit/s upload speeds are possible in the UMTS network with the data accelerator DC-HSPA+ used. As mentioned above, the Huawei B315 also permits connection of an external antenna. In the test with a LTE MIMO antenna, the speed and the stability of the compound could be increased significantly with the internal antenna.

Home network with Gigabit LAN

Besides a fast Internet connection, the Huawei B315 LTE router also offers comprehensive functions for home networking. Thus, up to four devices to be connected via cable to the router. The maximum data transmission (speed) is then up to 1 gigabit, so around 1000 Mbit/s. About WLAN up to 32 devices are also possible at the same, but then the maximum data rate is 300 Mbit/s, well below the level via cable. The USB 2.0 port on the back is not intended for connecting a computer, but can be used for connecting storage devices such as an external hard drive or a USB memory stick. Important to know: The memory should be formatted to FAT32, which often spread external hard drives; NTFS format is not recognized by Huawei B315. In addition, the USB port is suitable for the integration of a printer in the network, this only needs to support the Samba protocol. An HD video on a USB stick connected to the Huawei B315 could be streamed easily to a TV, jerkiness or delays did not exist and the router performance was so good that several devices could be surfing the Internet simultaneously.

Telephone over cellular

The Huawei B315 can be used as needed for telephone. So you can plug in at the back only an analog telephone with RJ11 connector. The DECT function for connecting wireless phones has been waived by manufacturer Huawei, so that one is forced to use the RJ11 connector. Another drawback: The telephone is only over cellular and Voice over IP (VoIP) is not supported. Many data-rates offer no telephone function or only with very expensive minute rates, so that the phone function on Huawei B315 for most users is likely to be useless.

Conclusion: LTE router with good facilities

Looking at the whole package, the Huawei B315 has a compelling features, easy setup and good performance. In the test, besides the classic functions, the Huawei B315 is well suited for families and households with multiple users. However, If you prefer to LTE router with the latest technology, you may check Huawei E5186 4G Router.

Huawei Mate S 4G LTE Smartphone Review

Huawei was previously known primarily as a manufacturer of cheap Android smartphones, routers, surf sticks and other network equipment. By Mate S, the manufacturer would now definitely in the premium smartphone segment. A high-quality metal case, a very good quality and innovative software features to the customer to purchase more.

High-quality metal body

Huawei provides the Mate S in the colors gray and champagne and delivers it in a high-quality acting cardboard box. The package includes a protective case, a power supply, a USB charging cable and a headset. The case protects the device very well and allowed the display of information through a small window with the front closed. Huawei did everything right for the body: It not only looks extremely good, it feels also very well and leaves a very high-quality impression. The entire back is made of metal, at the sides, the device is flat, so it is still neatly in your hand in spite of its enormous size. The entire front is covered with a laterally rounded glass, particularly in the use of swipe gestures is very pleasant. Next to the 13-megapixel camera, a fingerprint reader can be found, which is truly outstanding: The detection rate is very good and you can also use the sensor for gesture control to approximately scroll through galleries.

Fast processor and good LTE Modem

The Huawei Mate S we tested is a single-SIM version with combined MicroSD slot, the integrated memory of 32 GB and can therefore be expanded with a memory card. In other markets, there is also a dual-SIM version of the Huawei Mate S. The single-SIM version must be equipped with a nano-SIM card. The modem achieved up to 150 Mbit/s on LTE network, but may in the settings " Carrier Aggregation "so LTE Advanced CAT6, are activated. This speeds up to 300 megabits per second in the downlink and 50 Mbit/s in the uplink are then possible with the Huawei Mate S. Of course, UMTS with up to 42.2 Mbit/s and GSM are supported together with EDGE. A bit of a shame: The Huawei Mate S can only use the 2.4 GHz frequency range at in the current WLAN standard AC, 5GHz is not supported. Given the high price that is incomprehensible, because other manufacturers already obstruct significantly cheaper smartphones with dual-band WLAN.

The processor in Mate S comes from Huawei subsidiary HiSilicon and has eight cores, each with up to 2.2 GHz clock rate. Along with the Android operating system and the user interface EMUI, the unit was very quick in the test and allowed a smooth operation. A special feature is the absence of a separate app menu, all apps are right on the home screens, so as it is known, for example from the Apple iPhone. For many users, this is certainly a good thing, since it facilitates the operation. Of course you can also install another launcher on the Google Play Store, so that again a separate app menu is available.

Camera with good night mode

The Huawei Mate S has two cameras, one with 13 megapixels on the back and an 8-megapixel on the front. The back camera has an optical image stabilizer, a two-color LED flash and has an aperture of f2.0. The photos were sharp and true color included in the test, particularly convinced night mode with which even in twilight very useful pictures can still be taken. Videos can record Full HD resolution, but Huawei waived 4K video.

Screen with "Knuckle Sense"

The AMOLED display of Huawei Mate S is 5.5 inches tall, has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and leaves a very good impression. In order to stand out from the competition, Huawei Mate S uses some software functions to improve the display. The so-called "Knuckle Sense" function allows you to take screenshots or the launch of Apps means knuckles. That works but not always reliable, sometimes the unit does not recognize the ankle and not performs the desired function. Another interesting feature is "Force touch". Thus, the display should also recognize the pressure with which you press on the screen - something like the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus the 3D Touch technology. Unfortunately Force Touch is installed only in a premium version of Mate S, which is only available at some markets. The function would certainly have been interesting!

Conclusion: High-quality smartphone from Huawei

When Huawei Mate S is a premium smartphone - at least if you look at design, workmanship, materials and price. The technology is high, and LTE modem and processor is convincing with great photos and the speed. But there are also some negative points: WLAN missing in the 5 GHz range and the Knuckle Sense technology, for the operation of the display with the knuckles, does not seem mature. The Huawei Mate S is now available at www.4gltemall.com stores and mobile operators. If you like it, you can buy it.
